Why a Certificate of Analysis is So Important When Comparing CBD Brands
February 18, 2021
With so many different brands of CBD oils on the market, it can be difficult to tell which ones are legitimate and contain high quality CBD. One of the best, and quite frankly easiest, ways to tell the real-deal from poor quality products is to look at the company’s Certificate of Analysis (COA). Most legitimate CBD companies will post their COA on their website or make it available through their sales representatives.
A Certificate of Analysis is the paperwork provided by an independent, third-party laboratory that has tested samples of CBD oil given or sent by the producer for examination. The COA will confirm the levels of CBD and THC within the sample, ensuring you are “getting what you pay for”. It will also measure other natural components of the oil such as CBC, CBG, CBDA, and others that contribute to the effectiveness of the CBD product.
In addition to what IS in the CBD product, they may also measure what’s NOT in the product. As an agricultural/farm product, the hemp plant takes in many of the compounds found in the soil. These may include “heavy metals” including arsenic, mercury and lead. It will also absorb compounds from any pesticides or herbicides used in farming practices. A responsible producer will test CBD samples to ensure that those levels are well below the recommended limits.
At Harvey’s All Naturals, we work with one of the most respected independent laboratories in the country; Botanacor located in Denver, CO. Botanacor’s validated laboratory system is the only hemp processing lab in the country built to stand up to FDA inspections and audits. This give Harvey’s All Naturals the assurance that our products have been tested by professionals in a validated facility, using validated instrumentation and methodologies.
Our founder, Harvey Craig, started the company to provide natural relief to his friends and family for a variety of health conditions and ailments. He has always been up-front with them about what’s in (and not in) each of his products. It’s our goal to provide that same transparency to each of our customers, nationwide. You can find the COA for Harvey’s products on each individual product page, and feel free to reach out to us directly with any questions!
